Best Fall Candles
I’m a huge fan of scented candles … but only in cold weather.
Spring and summer? I never light a candle. I don’t care how fresh the scent, I don’t care if you bring me the most fabulous lemon basil scented candle on the planet, I probably won't touch it.
But September? Game-changer.
You know how that Pumpkin Spice fanatic in your life (maybe it’s you, no judgement) seems to sense the second a leaf starts to turn orange and head straight to Starbucks for their PSL?
I’m sort of the same, but instead of a PSL latte fix (I don’t really like them, your turn not to judge), to me, fall means CANDLE TIME.
I love fall scents. Pumpkin. Apple. Cinnamon. Leaves (it’s a thing, trust me). And because I fancy myself a bit of an expert ...
I’ve rounded up my favorite seasonal candles!
Yankee Candle’s the true king of scented candles in terms of variety (and in my opinion, strength-of-scent), to the point that it sometimes feels like there’s almost too much variety, and have a hard time deciding! This apple cider one is one of my Fall favorites. It’s the perfect combination of fresh (apple) and spicy (cinnamon/nutmeg).
Okay, I’ll admit it. Though I love the way Yankee Candles smell, I don’t love the way they look. My apartment’s got a very modern/contemporary vibe happening (think lots of white and chrome), and sometimes, the perfectionist, matchy-matchy part of my personality feels like the Yankee Jars don’t really go. This Pumpkin Chai from NEST is much more my speed. The NEST scents are a bit subtler than Yankee (which some people like, other’s don’t), but still plenty pumpkiny! And the glass jar it comes in is just a little more sophisticated.
I first started seeing these little French candles all over Instagram, and then suddenly it seemed they were everywhere. Yes, they’re expensive. Yes, their packaging is simple. But I actually love the way they all (mostly) look exactly the same. I like that it says “candlelight!” without LOOK AT ME! Their Wood Fire scent’s not going to be for everyone, but I love how surprising, and yet comforting it is!
Okay, not technically candles, but if you’re not a fan of scented candles, drop some white, unscented votive candles into these guys and make some phone calls, because you’re about to have the cutest dinner party around (if you decide to keep it easy and delicious and roast a chicken, call me. I’ll bring wine!)
Annnnnd, back to Yankee Candle, because even though it’s still not my favorite “looks-wise,” this is my favorite fall candle of all time. More than any of the others, this one just feels like fall to me. No one scent it’s overwhelming, it’s just got a bit of fallen leaves, fresh air, pumpkin, spice, woodsy thing going on that I buy every year!
