I'll be honest, it took me a bit to "get" Pinterest. For the longest time, I thought it was a social media platform in the same vein of Facebook, Twitter, etc, and I couldn't figure out how to use it in a way to connect with people. Then I realized: I was doing it wrong. Pinterest is social, in that it's a community (and a fabulous one!), but it's less about dialog than the other platforms. Pinterest is about ideas, inspiration and pretty things. So I shifted my focus away from sharing random updates, and instead concentrated on more timeless content with a consistent aesthetic appeal that that can be enjoyed regardless if someone's read a particular book of mine.
I pin things that I find pretty and inspiring.
Simple as that. You can see a screenshot of my profile below to see what I mean. Sound like your cup of tea? Sorry. Did I say tea? I meant champagne.
